Squirt Zone

Cool off on a hot day at the Smithsonian's National Zoo by dipping your feet in the flowing waters of the American Trail Tide Pool. This shallow wave pool open for "wading" features model sea stars, barnacles and mussels. Don't fret! All the critters in the Zoo's tide pool are replicas and cannot be harmed.

Please note: The Tide Pool is open seasonally and may be closed due to inclement weather. Children must be supervised by an adult. Young children must wear diapers at all times. The water in the tide pool is for feet only, not for drinking!
