Unique programs and activities that introduce young children to animals, nature, and science. This innovative project brings together resources from across the Smithsonian to support initiative and curiosity, language and communication, and exploration and discovery!

Get a Head Start with the Smithsonian is funded in part by the Jeff Bezos gift to the National Air and Space Museum. The program is a collaboration with the National Head Start Association.

Small Mammal Sing-Along

October 20 at 2 p.m. EDT

Just like preschoolers, the animals of the Small Mammal house love to learn, play, and even do crafts! Our special animal guests will show us how in this high-energy, playful program that will have you singing, dancing, and getting into some real monkey business!

Celebrate 50 years of giant pandas at the Zoo with music, movement, and a playful conversation with giant panda keepers designed to inspire the next generation of panda scientists. Find out what a panda's fur really feels like and watch as the pandas enjoy an ice cake designed by Head Start classrooms nationwide.
