Group Volunteer Opportunity

  • American Flamingo

Friends of the National Zoo is currently accepting a volunteer group to assist the Smithsonian's National Zoo's Bird House with a project to move and replace sand in the flamingo enclosure.  Volunteers will be required to perform physical labor in an outdoor setting.

This is a one-day volunteer opportunity. Exact dates and times to be scheduled to find the best time for Zoo and volunteer group. The group must be between 20 and 25 people, and the activity will take place on a weekday.

Special qualifications: 

Volunteers must be capable of outdoor physical activity, willing to get dirty and be able to work in all types of weather.

Training: 

Training will be provided on the job.
