Special Event Volunteer, Night of the Living Zoo

Friends of the National Zoo's annual Night of the Living Zoo event depends on volunteer support.

Date: Friday, Oct. 26, 2018, 7 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

This is an adult-only event. All individuals volunteering for Night of the Living Zoo must be at least 21 years old.

Event Description: Why should kids have all the fun? Volunteer to help with the Smithsonian's National Zoo's adult Halloween bash! Guests will wear their best costumes while enjoying the Zoo by moonlight.

Volunteer Roles: Volunteers are needed to help at the registration tables, act as greeters or bouncers, give out treats, bartend, and more. Roles are pre-assigned. If you have previously volunteered at Night of the Living Zoo and would like to request a specific assignment, please indicate that when you sign up. Placement cannot be guaranteed, but preferences will be taken into account.

Special qualifications: 
The event is open to guests from 7 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Volunteer check-in begins at 6 p.m. All volunteers should check in by 6:30 p.m. and are expected to stay through the conclusion of the event to help clean up their area. Volunteers should be comfortable with a hilly and possibly lengthy walk to their assigned station. Volunteers must be comfortable being outside for the duration of the event.
Training: 

Staff will be on hand to provide on the job training.
