Ranchos Catarina (Agroindustrias Unidas de México) is located in the Coyoacán region of Mexico, an area along the La Magdalena River and notable for its pre-Hispanic Tecpanecas settlement. Starting operations in 1979, Agroindustrias Unidas de México is now a leader in business and operates at a national level, exporting to over ten countries.

“Since its foundation, Finca Catarina and its owners have worked to preserve the original forest and cultural coexistence with the coffee plantation,” said Ranchos Catarina’s Francisco Ortiz about the importance of the Bird Friendly certification. “It’s a great satisfaction to see that many years of work allows us to observe life that no longer exists in other places.”

Featured bird on the finca: Bumblebee Hummingbird

Feathered fact: Endemic to humid, montane forests of Mexico. Just the size of a bumblebee, it is one of the smallest hummingbird species.
