Animals in this Exhibit
The animals on Claws & Paws Pathway are found in different countries and live in a variety of habitats. Most are carnivores (animals that eat meat) with strong claws and sharp teeth.
Follow your nose!
These animals have something else in common... they stink! Some animals have strong scents to ward off predators or mark their territories.
As you visit the animals along Claws & Paws Pathway, think about what you smell.
A whiff of stinky cheese? That may be the prickly North American porcupine. Buttered popcorn? You're probably smelling the shaggy-coated binturongs.
Keepers provide the animals along the Claws & Paws Pathway with daily enrichment — food, socialization, objects, sounds, smells and more. Enrichment enhances well-being and gives animals an outlet to show their species-typical behaviors. Keepers often hide or scatter food around enclosures, add scent enrichment, and spend time training and socializing with animals. This social interaction with keepers is not only enriching, but also a great way for animal care staff to evaluate an animal's health.

Restrooms are located behind the Conservation Pavilion, next to Kids' Farm.
The Speedwell Foundation Conservation Carousel is located across from Lemur Island along Olmsted Walk.
Elevation Burger at Mane Grill is located between Kids’ Farm and the restrooms.
