Migratory Birds

  • bird with researchers

For a long time, ornithologists only studied birds during summer breeding seasons. Our scientists helped pioneer a holistic approach, studying birds throughout the entire year or "annual cycle." Based on decades of research, we found that what happens during winter can significantly impact birds' reproductive success the following summer, as well as their long-term survival. We continue to raise awareness about the importance of the full annual cycle in developing effective conservation strategies.
